1. Job Title: Construction Manager
Reports to: Chief Operations Officer
Responsible for: Project Engineers, and other Engineering staff
Department: Operations
Section: Construction
Job Purpose:
To lead the Company in the execution of building and civil engineering projects undertaken by the company
Key Responsibilities:
♦ Leads Construction Unit in preparing programs, delivery schedules and reviews budgets for all building and civil engineering projects.
♦ Directs and controls the activities of the construction unit to ensure that every project adheres to stipulated parameters and that planned profit margins are met.
♦ Lead in the development of production related strategic business units, pre¬pare business cases, contribute to feasibility studies and guide in the setup.
♦ Leads the unit in the implementation and review of the Operations manual with special emphasis on streamlining systems.
♦ Prepares business case, requirement schedules and documentation for plant, materials, subcontractors and suppliers for approval by the relevant authori¬ties and plans their efficient use.
♦ Responds to architect's and clients queries on projects being undertaken
♦ Maintains progress and completion reports for each project and prepares project progress reports for consideration by Management
♦ Leads discussions and negotiations with third party utility companies in order to ensure the provision of water, electricity and other amenities to virgin sites.
♦ Reviews certificates prepared for payments to sub contractors.
♦ Coaches, develops and regularly appraises unit staff

Job requirement
Minimum Qualification:
♦ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a postgraduate diploma in business studies.
♦ Management training and / or exposure.
♦ Registered engineer
Experience:
A minimum of seven (7) years experience in a construction and / or Civil engineering role with a minimum of three years exposure in management, supervising staff with diverse disciplines and negotiating with contractors and clients.
