He/she will operate as a production coordinator, similar to the requirements of a production house, advertising agency, or broadcast facility. Daily tasks include managing assignments; scheduling camera operators, editors, producers; developing time lines; project oversight; tracking production progress; handling client relation; developing storylines and ideas; budgeting; technical oversight; and resource management of the unit’s budget.
The Communications Officer will persistently seek out and manage relationships with internal bank clients, external outlets, and partnerships for the creation and exposure of film and multimedia products through the web, social media, and other traditional and emerging media channels. He/She will use excellent news and editorial judgment to work with clients on stories that are interesting and engaging to external audiences.
He/she also offers support in conceptualizing, designing and running campaign-style broadcast and web-based communications strategies and may be responsible for managing the process of broadcast and multimedia outputs for Annual and Spring Meetings including live events, campaigns, and interviews.
He/she will work on editing scripts, audiovisual styles, quality control and fact checking while overseeing productions - very often under tight deadlines and always in close coordination with the web and media teams.
He/she will set up and work with administrative staff to run an efficient and effective budget and accounting system for commissioned products that will maximize income, managing co-financed projects and overseeing the unit’s budget.
The Communications Officer Broadcast and Multimedia will work with a marketing officer to develop and execute an effective marketing and outreach program for the broadcast and film products through new and existing channels, especially on the web to ensure positive exposure for the World Bank.
The Communications Officer will maintain an inventory of equipment owned by the unit to ensure proper functionality at all times and oversee procurement of new equipment.
He/She should acquire and maintain a deep understanding of the Bank's work, policies and research. The Communications Officer also works with the web and media teams to ensure the Bank assesses the communications value of new media technology and techniques.
He/she will work with the Chief of Broadcast, producers and production staff to supervise media interviews with senior management staff.
