PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Conduct the collection/testing of water samples during and after the drilling process. Assist and support the Community development officer during the community trainings in water quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the design of appropriate water quality analysis and monitoring as well as sanitary surveys for water supply systems in projects areas.
Undertake the analysis and monitoring of the physical, chemical and microbiological quality of water provided through spring protection, hand dug wells and boreholes constructed by CRS/Sudan.
Undertake sanitary surveys for assessment of risks for contamination of the water supply sources.
Inspect/conduct sample testing of domestic water supply in project communities and advise on the hygiene handling and treatment of the same.
Work closely with the Hygiene promotion Team in order to coordinate activities and raise awareness in water quality for the overall improvement of the environmental health in the implementing communities.
Collaborate closely with the local partners/authorities and the communities to ensure optimum location of the sanitation facilities in relation to new water supply sources.
Compile timely and quality monthly, quarterly and annual reports on water quality tests in project areas.
Perform any other related activities as may be assigned by the team leader or the program Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in water quality engineering or Diploma in water testing engineering, Chemistry or its equivalent with at least three years working experience.
Ability to learn and fit in with CRS’s organization culture
Ability to use portable Del-Agua model water testing machine and accessories
Ability to sensitize, train and work with communities
Ability to work as a part of a team
Ability to communicate in English and local languages
Good standard of writing English and good reporting skills
