Education Development Center (EDC) is a leader in international programs and research. Established in 1958, EDC designs, delivers and evaluates innovative programs to address some of the world’s most urgent challenges in education, health, and economic opportunity. EDC expects to have an increasing presence in East and Southern Africa and is looking for new business development specialist as well as other exceptionally qualified and committed individuals with qualifications in the following areas. EDC is looking for individuals for both long term technical assistance and short term technical assistance. In addition to the below qualifications preference will be given to candidates who have had extensive work experience in more than one African country working on local, national or regional levels.

• Literacy and Early Grade Reading • Teacher Training (Pre-service or In-service) • Education Management and School Administrator Training • Curriculum Development • Education Policy and Planning • Education Management Information Systems • Community Mobilization • School Health and Nutrition • HIV/AIDS Education • New Business Development in any of the above areas • Testing and Measurement • Monitoring and Evaluation • Program Management • Financial Management
New Business Development Advisor Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 5-7 years relevant experience, or Master's degree or equivalent with 3-5 years relevant experience; • Experience working in the field of education, preferably developing networks and contributing to the new business development process; • Experience working with staff, donors, and other stakeholders to identify and select upcoming new business opportunities; • Proven track record of identifying new opportunities and responding effectively to solicitations; • Experience in developing in analyzing requests for proposals, conducting research to understand country or regional contexts, developing strategies to address needs, and working with strong, committed teams wishing to improve education systems; • Excellent writing abilities and experience in developing concept papers and proposals to solicit new business. • Regional experience in Africa, preferably East of Southern Africa and preferably with projects funded by USAID or similar donor agencies. • Willingness and ability to travel to other countries; • Strong organizational, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills including fluent
English speaking and writing skills.
