Undergraduate Classes in Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU)
1. Current openings:
a. 4-6 Full-time Teaching Professorships:
The primary responsibility is to teach one or a few physics and/or mathematics courses such as Thermology (i.e., Introduction to thermal phenomena), Atomic Physics, Electrodynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Solid State Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Physics, Numerical Analysis, Complex Analysis, Topology, Differential Geometry, Abstract Algebra. The normal teaching load is 6 credit hours per week (and in total 9.5 months per academic year), plus at least two open seminars each semester.
Applicants should have an earned Ph.D. in Physics or Mathematics, and have sufficient teaching experience; S/he is expected to work closely and collaboratively with other teachers of the School of Science. Preference will be given to candidates with an excellent record of teaching.
b. 1 Chief Teaching Professorship:
The responsibilities include strategy planning for TCPM education with other teaching professors, giving lectures or teaching short courses to TCPM students, and enhance the education exchange between XJTU and foreign major universities.
An eligible applicant is expected to be an internationally renowned physicist or mathematician. S/he should have sufficient experience in teaching of physics and/or mathematical courses. A minimum 6 months per year of working/teaching is expected.
c. 2-4 Visiting Teaching Professorships:
Visiting Teaching Professors are expected to deliver short courses or seminars in physics and/or mathematics, to exchange the ideas of effective teaching with the teachers in School of Science. A minimum of 2 weeks teaching is required.
An eligible candidate should be an international renowned scientist in Physics or Mathematics with experience in teaching.
2. Salaries and Benefits:
a. The annual salary for full-time teaching professors from abroad will be 300k RMB (about 46,000 US dollors). If the actual work load is less than 6 credit hours per week, the salary will be adjusted based on the actual working hours.
b. The annual salary for the chief teaching professor from abroad will be 300k RMB (about 46,000 US dollors).
c. For visiting teaching professors, the salary/allowance will be calculated on a teaching hour basis at 600-1000RMB (or ca. 100-150 US dollars) per teaching hour.
XJTU will cover round-trip air tickets, office facilities, and a secretary who takes care of daily administration work, and a free apartment to live during his/her working time in XJTU.

4. Introduction of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU):
Founded in 1896, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) is one of the most prestigious universities in China. XJTU includes 20 schools, eight undergraduate residential colleges, and eight affiliated teaching hospitals. XJTU has a faculty and staff of more than 5500, with a current enrollment of more than 30,000 full-time students, including over 13,000 master and doctoral candidates.
XJTU is located in the city of Xi'an, an ancient capital of China with more than 3000 years of history. It is a city full of Chinese culture, architectures, and ancient relics. The famous Emperor Qin's Terra-cotta Warriors is just 40km east to Xi'an. Nowadays, it is transforming into a vibrant city with a good amalgamation of ancient culture and modern life.
