PharmAccess Foundation
PharmAccess is a young, fast-growing, international, not-for-profit organization of Dutch origin. Our mission is to improve access to quality health care in Africa, through building sustainable health systems and applying innovative financing mechanisms. We establish public-private partnerships with local organizations and use an output-based approach.
PharmAccess supports programs and offers services in several areas, such as voluntary health insurance for low-income groups, quality improvement and assurance of clinics and hospitals, financing of small and medium-sized enterprises, support of corporate and national healthcare programs, and clinical and operational research programs.
PharmAccess was founded in 2001, and is currently active in more than 10 African countries. Our head office is in Amsterdam and we have country offices in Tanzania, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Namibia. Our activities are financed by donors and clients, such as the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The World Bank, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), large multinationals and the Rockefeller Foundation.
PharmAccess co-initiated the Health Insurance Fund (HIF), the Investment Fund for Health in Africa (IFHA), the Medical Credit Fund (MCF) and SafeCare. The MCF won the SME Finance Challenge People’s Choice Award at the G-20 summit in Seoul, Korea in November 2010.
Job description
The Senior Consultant works in a small team of consultants and will in cooperation with team members be responsible for further development of the project portfolio of the team. Independent acquisition, design and implementation of health care related projects involving public and private clients and partners are significant parts of the job. The main responsibilities of the Senior Consultant lie within the following areas:
Strategy development;
- Advocacy, resource mobilization and partnership building;
- Contract and project management.
You will report directly to the Director Corporate Programs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A relevant Master’s degree;
- A minimum of 8 years work experience of which at least 5 years in consultancy;
- Acquisition, design and implementation skills in complex projects involving multiple stakeholders;
- Skilled in strategy development and program design;
- Extensive insight in how public and private organizations operate and experience or affinity with public-private partnerships;
- Knowledge of public health and health system development is advantageous;
- Analytical and ability to think out of the box;
- Preferably a background in program implementation in Africa;
- Client oriented, entrepreneurial, flexible and stress resistant;
- A real team player, with a natural gift for diplomacy;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Excellent verbal and written command of English, French will be advantageous;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with multiple stakeholders and people from different cultures;
- Proficiency with MS Office and Outlook;
- Willingness to travel regularly.
