PROJECT MANAGER
Duty Station: Juba, Republic of South Sudan
Duration: Up to 1 Year
Starting Date: September 2011.

CTG Global clients in Iraq currently comprise UN agencies, non-government organizations (NGOs), and different corporate organisations such as security companies.
Overview of the Position
CTG’s client is an Oilfield Support Services Company that is looking for an international Project Manager for their Roads and Bridges company, which conducts infrastructure development projects in South Sudan.
Project Management is the core company activity, which is the application of skills, knowledge, techniques, and tools throughout the project activities to achieve the predetermined objectives of quality, scope, cost, and time, to the equal expectations of those involved. On the whole, project manager is responsible for the coordination, direction, implementation, control and completion, execution of specific projects consistently with company strategy, goals and commitments. Project Managers use project management software to maintain a track of project deliverables and resources. Project management discipline can be applied to any undertaking in just about every industry. Any undertaking that require finite resources, people and time constraints to be completed is a project and you need to manage the undertaking with the same project management skills. And regardless of what these projects are, the project manager has the duty and responsibility to perform basic project management tasks.
General Functions 1. A project manager should be accountable for accomplishing the stated project objectives within the stipulated time period of any particular project. Be clear about the project objective and the measure of progress that needs to be observed at specific project landmarks towards completing it. 2. Creating clear and attainable project objectives that are within the company’s affordability. Define the measurable landmark objectives to gauge your progress. 3. Ensuring that all the project requirements are taken care of; at the same time he ensures that the three constraints (quality, cost as well as time) that face every project are properly managed. 4. Define the resources in manpower, logistics and support materials you will need to complete the project within the prescribed budget 5. Use PERT/CPM or similar progress tracking method to ensure that you meet the objectives and complete the project within agreed timelines and budget. 6. Track all expenses incurred by each project team member and make a thorough reporting to the proper corporate officials. 7. Track all resources including time keeping functions to ensure that you have the right resources to accomplish the day’s project tasks to meet deadlines. 8. Attend regular and ad hoc project status meetings with project owners or principals and any stakeholder to report on the progress and where you stand in the project timeline. 9. Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions and accordingly report periodically to Programme Manager. 10. Project managers are also often times tasked with the role of arranging for and seeing to it that trade shows are carried out well. This includes but not limited to supervising or managing other staff involved in the trade show. 11. They are expected to properly manage time and budgets that are set aside for the success of any given project. 12. A project manager works and liaises with outside vendors to make sure that all the materials needed for any given project are availed at the right time. 13. For any given project to succeed the people working on the project need proper training. It is the work of the project manager to ensure that these people get the all the necessary training. 14. Working with the stakeholders of the project in question to ensure that they are adequately informed on the project’s progress. 15. Other duties as assigned by Operations Manager incorporation with above.
Essential Experience
• Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. Experience in implementing new strategies and procedures. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data. Knowledge of communication and public relation techniques. Ability to develop and deliver presentations. • Work requires professional written and verbal communication in English and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of government and to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects. • This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a Bachelor Degree in Project Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management; Project Management Professional Certification is highly desirable and ten (10) years of experience in construction management of roads, bridges and infrastructures projects. • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel.
Communication and Negotiation Skills
• Good communication (verbal and written) and strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team. • Have excellent analytical, and writing skills • Be results oriented and able to meet strict timelines for outputs • Be able and willing to travel and work in remote areas in challenging circumstance • Be a self-motivated, versatile and adaptable to different cultures and people • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel), email/internet, ability to operate other Information Management/Database software is highly desirable. • Experience in providing assistance and support in evaluation and performance monitoring. • Competent in the use of computers and standard computer software
