Position Summary
The department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, College of Engineering, Qatar University has been granted a Chair in Rotating Equipment by Oryx GTL. The department is soliciting applications and nominations for the Oryx Chair in Rotating Equipment utilized in the field of gas operations and production .The Oryx Chair will be a preeminent scholar with an international reputation for research in Rotating Equipment. The appointed Chair will be a dynamic, innovative leader with a distinguished track record of scholarship. The Oryx Chair will have a solid history of international, inter-disciplinary research, support and outreach activities, and a proven innovation record as evidenced by journal publications, funded research and patents. The Oryx Chair will have a proven track research record in the field of Rotating Machinery in the area of design, development, structural dynamics and control, operations and maintenance of power systems a comprehensive background in the design and operation of different types of rotating equipment for power, oil, gas, marine and other surface applications. As a faculty member within the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, the responsibilities of the Chair will include development and teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses, establishment of a strong and sustained research program and demonstration of service to the University.

Competencies:
- Ability to develop new research and teaching focusing on rotating equipment utilized in the gas operations and production.
- Ability to deliver undergraduate/graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate student projects
- Community service, namely industrial relations within the oil and gas industry and with relevant government agencies
- Develop his/her own areas of research specialization to complement the existing undergraduate and graduate programs; obtain competitive research funding, and engage in collaborative research; engage in outstanding scholarly activities leading to national, regional and international recognition
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent
- Relevant experience in the field of Rotating Machinery in the area of design, development, structural dynamics and control, operations and maintenance of power systems a comprehensive background in the design and operation of different types of rotating equipment for power, oil, gas, marine and other surface applications.
- A proven track record of research funding and demonstration of ability to establish ties with the industry and government agencies;
