GOAL Kenya In 1992 GOAL established a programme office in Nairobi to address the needs of vulnerable children and youth in Nairobi’s informal settlements. Today, GOAL Kenya (GK) is implementing an integrated Programme of Support for Children and Youth in Difficult Circumstances that provides a range of complementary services to vulnerable children and youth in Nairobi’s informal settlements. The GK programme consists of four principal sectors: Education, Child Protection, Health and HIV/AIDS (HAHI), and the Environmental Health Project (EHP). The programme focuses on building the capacity of individuals and institutions to contribute to sustainable positive social change for most vulnerable populations in Kenya.
Job Purpose: To support the GOAL Kenya country programme with high-quality research and analysis and assistance on writing and development of proposals and reports.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Ensure familiarity with GOAL’s strategic objectives and with compliance issues for GOAL and all current and potential donors.
Assist in the strategic design and development of proposals and reports in collaboration with the Country Director, Head of Programmes, Programme Development Manager, Finance Controller and Project Managers.
Research new programme opportunities in line with the GOAL Kenya strategy, including liaising with other INGOs, government ministries, UN Agencies, bilateral donors and private foundations. To maintain current knowledge of opportunities to grow and develop GOAL’s programmes in Kenya.
Coordinate, collate and assist programme staff with writing grant reports to ensure timely delivery of quality reporting.
Update grant reporting and proposal tracking sections of monthly report.
Ensure proper filing and maintenance of all grant files in both hard and soft copy.
Provide support to Programme Managers by participating in strategy design, grants opening and grant closing meetings, disseminating grants/proposal documents, and responding to information requests from the field and from other partners.
At the request of the Country Director or Urban Programme Manager take responsibility for any miscellaneous projects not falling under responsibilities outlined in this job description.
Any other duties as outlined by the line manager.
Requirements: 1. Strong numerate skills and prior experience of budget formation 2. Strong writing skills and prior experience of proposal and report writing 3. Strong organisational and administrative skills and good time management 4. Experience of donor relationship management and of donor compliance processes 5. Strong interpersonal skills
