PharmAccess supports programs and offers services in several areas, such as voluntary health insurance for low-income groups, quality improvement and assurance of clinics and hospitals, financing of small and medium-sized enterprises, support of corporate and national healthcare programs, and clinical and operational research programs.
PharmAccess was founded in 2001, and is currently active in more than 10 African countries. Our head office is in Amsterdam and we have country offices in Tanzania, Nigeria, Kenya and Namibia. PharmAccess co-initiated the Health Insurance Fund (HIF), the Investment Fund for Health in Africa (IFHA), the Medical Credit Fund (MCF) and SafeCare. The MCF won the SME Finance Challenge People’s Choice Award at the G-20 summit in Seoul, Korea in November 2010.
Job description
As a Finance Manager you primarily work for the Health Insurance projects within PharmAccess in close collaboration with the Controlling Department. You will be responsible for developing budgets for funding proposals in accordance with donor guidelines and for internal and external financial reports to these donors. You will switch between several disciplines: (1) a reporting role working with accounting analyzing and reporting on results; (2) an analytical role investigating and building models around key drivers and doing hands on problem solving as well as forecasting; and (3) a leadership role providing recommendations on alternative strategies. Key tasks include:
- Ensure that all proposal budgets, work plans and budget amendments are accurate and complete;
- Review all donor reports for accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements;
- Identify financial project risks in cooperation with country- and program directors;
- Review, understand and monitor contractual commitments to ensure effective management of contracts;
- Analyze financial progress reports evaluations;
- Provide budget analysis, including budget to actual variances;
Qualifications & Requirements
- You have a professional background in finance (Accounting, Business Economics, etc.) on an academic level;
- You have five or more years experience in project finance and budgeting, working with international donors;
- This is your third or fourth career step;
- You are a pro active professional with strong analytical skills;
- You have excellent interpersonal and management skills;
- Excellent verbal and written command of English;
- Knowledge and proficiency in MS Office, MS Outlook, and strong Excel skills;
- You are socially conscious and aware of the African setting of our projects;
- Travelling is no objection.
