PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Work closely with the community in promoting hygiene through workshops
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Works closely with the Program Officer in the implementation and monitoring of CRS- Sudan water sanitation training activities.
During project assessments and prior to drilling activities, help conduct awareness campaign amongst community leaders, women and children in subjects such as protection, peace, good neighourhood, the promotion of hygiene, clean environment, the animation of play amongst children in the assisted communities.
In coordination with the Project Officer, Promote awareness in issues like water borne deseases, proper use of soaps for handwashings, protection of water sources etc.
Help improve community capacity in conflict reduction and protection. Train Community Hygiene promoters and in Do-No-Harm methodologies.
Prepare and conduct support for traditional gatherings of women and communities.
Work closely with local communities during the program implementations using community mobilization skills and participatory methodologies.
Help in the training of Community Hygiene Promoters (CHPs) using modules of the Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation (PHAST) methodology. Provides variety of participatory techniques to involve project beneficiaries in the identification of their needs and formulation of appropriate responses, resulting in a high degree of ownership and responsibility.
Help in Community mobilization, in sanitization and HIV/AIDS awareness.
Submit regular reports to the Project Officer detailing the progress and impact of CRS Water and Sanitation program during the implementation activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Diploma in Social Work and/or Social Administration or its equivalent with at least three years working experience.
Strong ability for Community mobilization
Ability to conduct sanitation training and community awareness.
Ability in Data collection and analysis.
Ability to learn and fit in with CRS’s organization culture
Ability to sensitize, train and work with communities
Ability to work as a part of a team
Ability to communicate in English and local languages
