TPO Uganda is a local national NGO that has been operating in Uganda for over 17 years now. Our projects target the most vulnerable communities delivering the following critical interven¬tions; Care and Support to HIV/AIDS Orphans, Psychosocial Support and Mental Health Services, Promotion and Protection of the Rights of the Child and Livelihoods and Food Security Improvement.
TPO Uganda is part of a consortium that has been awarded a grant by USAID to implement a 5 year project that aims to improve the lives of vulnerable children and their households. The project known as SCORE will be implemented in over 30 districts and we are now looking to fill the following positions that will be available at the TPO Regional Office that will be established in Mbarara.
Job Title: Technical Advisor Child Protection
Technical Supervisor: The Chief of Party SCORE Project
Reports to: The Country Director TPO Uganda
Job summary
The position holder will be responsible for providing technical assistance to all SCORE Consortium partners and sub grantees to mainstream and acquire sufficient capacity that enables them to provide quality child protection and legal support services in all project zones. S/he will develop quality program standards that will guide the design and implementation of quality child protection and legal support interventions across all implement¬ing partners and sub grantees. S/he will strengthen systems and procedures at community and district levels that increase access to child protection services by all vulnerable children identified by the SCORE project.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop quality program standards that will guide the SCORE project implementing partners and sub grantees to mainstream and deliver quality child protection and le¬gal support services.
• Conduct a child protection capacity and skills gap as¬sessment across ail implementing partners to ascertain capacity needs, prepare and implement a systematic ca¬pacity development plan.
• Put in place service delivery procedures for all implemen¬tation level consortium staff and partners in the identifica¬tion and management of child protection cases in each target district.
• Supervise all regional based child protection officers, district level duty bearers and backstop the functionality of the community based child protection system in each district.

Job requirement
Minimum qualifications and experience
The successful candidate will be a holder of a Bachelors De¬gree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or Community Psychology. They should also possess a Master's Degree pref¬erably in a humanities related field. Professional training in child protection, juvenile justice, human rights and other essential skills will give you a competitive edge. In addition the person must possess:
• No less than 5 years consistent experience in a child protection technical advisory/ support role with a large scale NGO.
• You must possess a thorough understanding of national level response initiatives targeting vulnerable children.
• Awareness and familiarity with government policies and strategies on children.
• Demonstrable training skills, development of training materials and capacity building of community based organisations
