Research Assistant in Impact Evaluation Ref: GSS/09/RD/Avril 2011
The Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice) is seeking to recruit a highly qualified Research Assistant in Impact Evaluation at level position of GSS (General Support Staff) to be based at the temporary headquarters of the Institution in Cotonou, Benin.

Position: Research Assistant in Impact Evaluation
Category: GSS
Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Impact Evaluation Economist, he/she will assist in the impact evaluation of rice technologies on rural households and African economies. Other tasks include: developing research and training methodologies, administering surveys with rural households, supervising field agents, data analysis, writing research reports and collaborating with other scientists in Africa.
Requirements
(1) A Master’s degree or equivalent in agro-economics or economics
(2) Good capacity in quantitative analysis of data
(3) Excellent knowledge in econometrics/statistics and good mastery of administering surveys with households
(4) Good capacity in data analysis using software packages such as STATA, GAUSS, SPSS or SAS (experience in C/C++ will be a major advantage)
(5) Good knowledge of WORD, Excel, ACCESS and web publication software packages
(6) Capacity to work for a long period in rural area and be prepared to travel in the sub-region
(7) Knowledge of rice ecologies would be an advantage
(8) Excellent knowledge of English or French and good working knowledge of the other would be an advantage.

This is a regionally-recruited position and the appointment is for two years with possibility for renewal.
