Responsibilities
Overall role
• Lead the implementation of the Next Generation programme.
• Use your innovative ideas and the sound base of your experience to give input into the implementation and growth strategy for the Next Generation programme.
Managing government relationships
• Manage relationships and ensure compliance with formal requirements of Ministry of Education and Sports and other relevant national government bodies.
• As appropriate, lobby the relevant government departments on behalf of Next Generation secondary schools.
• In conjunction with schools, help to manage relationship with relevant local government authorities around Next Generation schools (e.g. DEO).
Supporting Next Generation schools
• First point of contact for headteachers in Next Generation schools for advice and consultancy, including assisting in the design and review of the schools’ strategic plan, budget and policies.
• Designing systems and procedures to address the unique challenges faced by each school, making them standard across schools where appropriate, and adapting them over time according to feedback from schools.
• Devising a system for teacher performance improvement, including (a) performance management systems with rewards and penalties, (b) sharing best practice across partner schools and (c) creating formal training opportunities.
• Assisting the school in devising additional income generating activities, including a strategy for providing lunch to students.
• Designing a strategy for enhancing curriculum in Next Generation schools, for example inclusion of vocational training, and overseeing its implementation.
• - In conjunction with school management, allocate available funds to capital investment projects in the partner schools in line with overall MF strategy.
Expansion of programme
• Giving input into expansion strategy of entire Next Generation programme.
• Researching potential new areas of expansion for the Next Generation programme.
• Building relationship with DEO in any new districts of expansion for the Next Generation programme.
• Assessing suitability of new schools that are identified as being potentially able to benefit from the programme, or who apply to be a part of the programme.
External relations
• Positively advocate for Next Generation programme and on behalf of Next Generation schools with NGOs, private companies, or any other organisations whose involvement in the programme would be beneficial.
• Forge partnerships with other organisations whose goals align with those of the Next Generation programme.
• Identify suitable external funding opportunities available to the Next Generation programme and vigorously pursue them.
Financial management
• Budget planning within Next Generation funding allocation, including apportioning available funds according to established programmatic priorities.
• Monitoring of all programme-related expenditure, including in-school capital investments.
Additional duties
• Assist with other MF activities from time to time as demands may require.

Experience
• Graduate
• At least 5 years experience in management within the education sector
• Experience in basic financial management
• Possible experience in fundraising and/or advocacy
• Track record of implementing and managing complex projects
