We are looking for a top professional with a successful track record in achieving results in the above programmatic areas and with proven technical, management and coordination skills.
Description:
Under the overall guidance of the Director of Programmes, the Deputy Director will manage NYHQs level strategic support to Regional and Country offices to advance the equity strategy of the organization; integrate cross-cutting areas such as gender, disabilities, and humanitarian response within technical sectors; and coordinate donor relations for key programme result areas. The Deputy Director will also manage capacity development from the side of programmes for the organization-wide strengthening of equity and human-rights based approaches to programming. This position is based in New York and demands 30 – 40% travel time worldwide.
Requirements:
• Advanced university degree in Social Sciences and / or Management.
• At least 13-15 years of relevant professional work experience in management, programme innovation, technical policy development and analysis as well as programme implementation monitoring, especially in developing countries. Experience in academic research and international networking, management of global programme partnerships and knowledge of current development thinking in integrated rural and urban programming are desirable. The incumbent is expected to have excellent team building and coordination skills, be highly articulate, analytical, and have a strong drive for results. Experience in responding to emergencies is desirable. Proven record in interaction with donor community and fund-raising is a desirable asset.
• Fluency in English and another UN working language, preferably French or Spanish.
