Information Technology Manager (ACHAP)

The African Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Partnerships (ACHAP) is a country-Jed, public-private development partnership between the Government of Botswana, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Merck Company Foundation which provided strategic support to Botswana's national HIV/AIDS response since 2001.

With ACHAP's Support Botswana succeeded in establishing the first national HIV treatment programme on the African Continent. In building on the achievements of the national treatment programme ACHAP has embarked on a renewed phase of support to Botswana national response to HIV/AIDS by focusing on catalysing HIV prevention interventions through the scaling up of safe male circumcision, the design and implementation of innovative HIV prevention strategies targeting the youth, continuing support for the AIDS treatment programme and strengthening the integration of TB and HIV services to achieve a better quality and improved outcomes for patients co-infected by the two diseases.

ACHAP seeks to appoint a dynamic, suitably qualified and highly

motivated individual to the following position:

information Technology Manager

Job Purpose You will be responsible for managing the information

technology function for an organization of 60 users operating in

four sites in Botswana.

Principal Accountabilities

• Reviews and develops information technology strategy and information technology policy to support the achievement of ACHAP's long term plans;

■ Defines enterprises architecture for IT and business

information and selects technology to achieve business goals.

• Prepares departmental annual plan and annual financial budget for approval by the supervisor;

• Implements and monitors data security and business continuity.strategies /disaster recovery to secure organisational data;

• Ensures IT operations and monitoring processes are defined and operational;

• Maintains contracts for various components of the system and ensures that suppliers meet the terms of the service level agreements;

• Collaborates with other departments in order to ensure integration of activities and process efficiency for effective service delivery within operational areas as well as internal and external customers;

• Advocates for effective systems use and oversees organization change for IT Solutions.

• Develops staff for effective operations and implementation of


new systems

• Supervises two IT staff members and ensures strong performance and job satisfaction

Person Specifications Minimum Education

Degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology or related field

Minimum Experience

5 years information technology work experience managing IT organisations with over 50 users.

Experienced in implementing Web based applications (IIS, Sharepoint, Apache Tomcat)

Experienced in database operations (SQL Server 2008 R2, Analysis Services, Reporting Services, Integration Services, PostGreSQL) Supervisory experience in an IT environment
