Role and Responsibilities
Effective information management and communications, supported by appropriate technology and training. Giving guidance and advice to internal and external IT staff. Ongoing evaluation of cost efficient communications set up in the area of use of V-Sat, Bgan, Satphones and wireless internet. Maintaining / increasing the quality status of all communication equipment.
Project Overview
Multi-sectoral relief programme including: provision of Primary Health Care; HHP; Capacity Building; Water and Sanitation; NFI distributions - across fixed and emergency response locations. Goal is to assist in reducing morbidity and mortality in vulnerable populations of Southern Sudan.

Key activity areas
ICT Management and Training
• Provide ICT hardware/software/user support for all (including field) locations (eg: establish and manage networks, in offices; install/repair PCs; install new software; maintain printers and other peripherals. Also involves the troubleshooting of problems occurring in any of these areas). • Keep hardware/software systems up to date with the latest firmware and software updates. • Provide appropriate IT training directly for all field based (national & international) staff (eg: basic use of Windows; basic and intermediate use of Office applications; email/internet use; backups, software installation and simple repairs; etc), through one-on-one coaching and taught sessions. • Support asset management and procurement of assets (eg: Stay up-to-date with changes and new releases, contact suppliers in Nairobi in cooperation with Logs Nairobi and be involved in related processes). • Support HQ regarding new projects (e-library, navigator, possible server purchase). • Create, maintain and provide the team with the latest contact information regarding all colleagues. (eg: create e-mail addresses, gather contact info and send these updates around).
Communication equipment
• Responsible for communication equipment eg: HF radios, V-Sats, Thuraya satphones, mobile phones, landlines, etc). • Keep track of developments in communication technology and make appropriate recommendations to apply this in Medair.
Security
• Ensure the security and integrity of all Medair Southern Sudan information systems and data (eg: online security; password policy; enabling and enforcing backup procedures; anti virus solutions, etc).
Qualifications
• Degree level qualification
Experience / Competencies
• Minimum 1-2 years post-qualification experience • Good knowledge of Windows XP, MS Office, etc • Skilled in troubleshooting • Ability to cope with a fast moving environment where change is constant • Good document writing skills • Able to meet objectives in timely manner • Abel to develop and maintain effective relationships to work colleagues, service providers and other agencies • Good training and coaching skills • Able to define systems and approaches that are ‘sustainable’ (ie: as simple as possible) • Willing to get involved in the logistical process of Medair SDS • Willingness to cover other jobs as needed • Servant minded behaviour
Medair standard working requirements for the field
• Committed to Medair values • Reflect the vision and values of Medair when interacting with team members, local staff, beneficiaries and external contacts • At least one year of professional experience in a relevant field (more experience preferred) • Minimum 3 months inter-cultural overseas experience • Willing to commit to Medair for a minimum of one year • Single, or married (without dependent children) • Aged 25 - 55 generally preferred • Strong working knowledge of English (oral and written) • Working knowledge of French (oral and written) for French speaking field programmes • Competent with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook • Able to live and work with a multicultural team under difficult conditions • Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty, and physically fit • Successful completion of Medair Relief & Rehabilitation Orientation Course (ROC)

Working Conditions
Based in Juba, with very frequent travels to field sites in Upper Nile state and partly to Nairobi. Six day working week in most of Sudan, 5 days a week in Juba and Nairobi. Ease of accessibility can often mean interruptions outside of normal pattern of work. Living conditions can range from very simple to good.
