Organizational Setting |
The Department of Safeguards is the organizational hub for the implementation of IAEA safeguards. The IAEA implements nuclear verification activities for more than 160 States in accordance with their safeguards agreements. The safeguards activities are undertaken within a dynamic and technically challenging environment including advanced nuclear fuel cycle facilities and complemented by the political diversity of the countries. The Department of Safeguards consists of six Divisions: three Operations Divisions, A, B and C, for the implementation of verification activities around the world, and three Support Divisions: (i) Division of Concepts and Planning, (ii) Division of Information Management, and (iii) Division of Technical Support; and the Office of Safeguards Analytical Services. The operating environment is participative, interactive, and analytical. Many sensitive issues require the utmost discretion. The Division of Technical Support is responsible for the development and implementation of the Department's equipment systems. The Section of Inspection Logistics is responsible for the provision and tracking of safeguards equipment used for verification and associated activities and for maintaining the associated records for equipment located at HQ, the SAL, IAEA Regional Offices and facilities subject to IAEA safeguards. The main objectives of the Equipment Logistics and Tracking Unit is to provide the Department of Safeguards with the services related to equipment requisition, receiving, delivering and inventory control. |
Main purpose |
Reporting to the Head of the Unit, the Engineer (Logistics and Accounting) ensures efficient and timely delivery of equipment requested for Safeguards verification purposes, and that records are accurate, complete and up to date. He/she updates and improves inventory control procedures and asset management systems and is the primary contributor to the enhancement of methods and software tools for managing data pursuant to the Unit's core activities. |
Role |
The Engineer is: a coordinator and an organizer of the equipment delivery and inventory control functions, providing day-to-day management of the associated technical and clerical staff; analyst and quality controller of the data maintained by the Unit. |
Partnerships |
The Engineer collaborates with the SGTS Technicians and SG Inspectors in equipment requisition and delivery issues; has periodic contacts with external vendors and SGIM and MTIT software application specialists to clarify system development requirements; and provides SGTS management and the Internal and External auditors with explanations and reports on equipment inventory issues. |

Remuneration |
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $56 018 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $34 451*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation, home leave, pension plan and health insurance.
