Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking an Area Finance Manager to lead the Regional Finance Team in our Africa and the Middle East (AME) Area Office (AO.) This key management position will be responsible for overseeing and protecting the HFHI brand as well as the overall assets and resources in 18 AME AO Branches and National Organizations (NO.) As a team leader, this role supervises and stimulates the strengthening of the Financial Management within AME Branches/NO, and contributes to and influences the overall organizational financial management priorities and strategies.

Responsibilities Include:
Provides financial management technical oversight
· Ensures all financial operations are carried out according to HFHI policies/procedures, accepted International accounting standards and local laws.
· Support the development of HFHI policies and procedures for the AME AO Branch/NO level, in conjunction with HFHI International Finance and Internal Controls; ensure timely review and consolidation of the HFHI Branch Office audited financial statements into HFHI annual Financial Report and Audit.
· Oversee the consolidation of financial statements and statistical data for 18 AME Branches/NO, ensuring that they reconcile with published program department reports.
· Provide accurate, reliable and timely submission of reports, including International Financial Indicators and Senior Management Reporting System (SMRS) reporting, to stakeholders within agreed deadlines.
Financial planning and budgeting
· Support AME AO Program in the development of Branch/NO annual plans and budgets.
· Ensure that regional finance reviews all budgets for consistency within existing/planned business activity, account/project/fund codes and fund accounting practices.
International Transfers
· Coordinate the review and approval of international transfer requests within AME AO from HFHI HQ, AO and Global Funding Network (GFN) to AME Branches/NO.
· Ensure transfers are in compliance with International Fund Transfer Policies and meet Fund Accounting standards.
· Ensure all transfers are tracked and reported accurately at both the AO and Branch/NO level.
Leadership and Coordination
· Supervise and provide leadership to Finance staff.
Strategy Development and Implementation Quality
· Develop and coordinate implementation of strategies to improve the financial management capacity of AME Branches/NO. Including, but not limited to,
systems installation (e.g. SUN 5), developing reporting standards (i.e. for management and donors) and, partnership management etc.
Required Skills:
· Undergraduate degree in related field or equivalent required; CPA/Chartered accountant preferred
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in International Accounting or Business Management required; 2 years auditing experience preferred
· Between 2-3 years’ experience with managing USAID grants or performing A133 audits preferred
· Experience in using SUN systems or similar accounting software packages required; Installation and training experience on computerized accounting systems Preferred
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
· A demonstrated knowledge of finance, accounting and GAAP reporting required
· Must have proven track record in managing multi-cultural staff, strategic thinking, and effective team management experience/skills in a geographically dispersed international organization in a rapidly changing environment
· Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously a must
· Willing and able to work at our AME Area Office in Pretoria, South Africa and travel up to 30% within the AME region
